Our Ultimate Goal

Our ultimate goal is based on the Great Commandment and the Great Commission

We believe that creation care, combined with the Gospel, can significantly improve our efforts to love God, our neighbors, and to make disciples of all nations. It provides unique opportunities for discipling existing believers, for reaching the unreached, and for bringing mercy to the poor.

“If Jesus is Lord of all the earth we cannot separate our relationship to Christ from how we act in relation to the earth. For to proclaim the gospel that says ‘Jesus is Lord’ is to proclaim the gospel that includes the earth, since Christ’s Lordship is over all creation. Creation care is thus a gospel issue within the Lordship of Christ.”

Why should we care for creation?

  1. Because Christ our Savior is the one who created all things (Col 1:15-16 and John 1:1-3). When we mistreat creation, we mistreat our Savior.
  2. Because creation care can improve our ability to love our neighbor and to fulfill the Great Commandment (Matt 22:34-40).
  3. Because it is an important discipleship issue that can help us fulfill the Great Commission (Matt 28:19-20).
  4. Because our dominion over the earth was meant to honor Christ (Gen 1:26 and 2:15, Col 1:16, Matt 25:14-23).
  5. Because all creation suffers and groans from our sin (Hosea 4:1-3, Rom 8:22).
  6. Because God calls us to honor and glorify him in all things (Col 1:10 and I Cor 10:31).
  7. Because God himself cares for creation (Duet 11:8-12 and Ps 65:9-13).
  8. Because God wants all things to exist and have their being (Gen chapter 1, Rev. 4:11).
  9. Because God delights in the work of his hands, and so do his people (Gen 1:31, Ps 104:31, 111:2).
  10. Because God is the owner of all things (Ps 24:1 & 50:9-11). Every part of creation belongs to Him.
  11. Because God desires that we bring mercy and justice to the poor (Isa 58:9-11, Micah 6:8).
  12. Because it is the good, pleasing, and perfect will of God (Rom 12:2).
  13. Because Christ has a plan to reconcile and restore all things to himself (Col 1:19-20). If Christ is going to heal all of his creation in the future, we should follow his example today, while we wait for his return.
  14. Because we want to improve our testimony as Christians and point people to our eternal home and paradise with Christ (Jn 14:1-3, II Peter 3:13, Rev 21 & 22).
