Training God’s people to steward God’s creation for the flourishing of all creation and peoples in Christ.
Through the Gospel of Jesus Christ, we want to see our creator glorified, landscapes restored, and lives flourishing.
Loving God
and our neighbor.
Matthew 22:36-39
To see people and communities walking closer with Christ, transformed in their relationships with God, each other, and the creation that surrounds them.
Our training is bible-integrated, practically-demonstrated, and Christ-exalting. We train local, national, and international community leaders, offering one or two day trainings, and comprehensive 5-day trainings multiple times a year. These trainings incorporate a diversity of creation stewardship topics like Farming God’s Way, indigenous forestry, the use of Fire-less cookers, beekeeping, and the conservation of biodiversity.
We disciple local farmers and women groups through regular follow-up visits to build relationships. Bible study is combined with practical efforts to help people implement Farming God’s Way and other creation care solutions. The goal of this outreach is to uplift people out of poverty and dependency. We also conduct similar activities with area schools.
Highly qualified creation stewardship trainers are critically needed across Africa and in many other parts of the world. Through our Training of Trainers Accreditation Program, we work to equip and multiply individuals who can effectively train others.
Our demonstration site is an outdoor classroom that provides many opportunities for hands-on learning about various topics, including Farming God’s Way, tree nursery management, the grafting of fruit trees, indigenous tree species, compost making, and bee-keeping. Multiple kinds of tree seedlings, flowers and herbs are available for sale.
We plant a biblical vision and encourage practical action
“The Lord God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it.” Genesis 2:15
This training teaches people how to restore their soil, resulting in dramatic improvements in crop yields. Most farmers can easily double or triple their yields at low cost and with minimum external inputs. This is a sustainable method of farming that honors God. It brings good news to those suffering from poverty and hunger, reducing dependency on foreign aid.
"In the middle of the garden was the tree of life..." Genesis 2:9
Deforestation around the world leads to erosion, flooding, water scarcity, agricultural decline, hunger, and poverty.
In the beginning God filled his garden with many trees “that were pleasing to the eye and good for food.” CSI promotes a vision for tree planting and reforestation.
Our indigenous tree nursery educates people about the critical role that forests play in maintaining healthy ecosystems and communities.
In John 6:12, after Jesus fed five thousand people, he said to his disciples, “Gather up the pieces that are left over. Let nothing be wasted.”
Jesus encourages us to minimize the waste of resources. Fireless cookers can complete the cooking process for many foods while conserving fuel, forest, and financial resources at the same time.
CSI trains women how to make and use this simple technology, which can cut cooking costs by 50% or more. Less time cooking over a fire also reduces the danger of fire and smoke, improving health and giving women more freedom for gardening or other household chores.
God gave his people a land flowing with milk and honey. Deuteronomy 11:8-9
Bees provide honey and help to feed the world by pollinating our crops. One in three bites of food is the result of their work.
Unfortunately, bee populations are declining, and we need to protect and multiply our bee colonies.
CSI provides training in beekeeping as an added source of income, to improve crop pollination, and as a long-term sustainable use of our forests.
“God saw all that he had made, and it was very good.” Genesis 1:31
CSI delights in the beauty of God’s creation and the critical role every creature plays in God’s ecosystem. We recognize the serious conservation challenges that face many species of fish, birds, insects, and wildlife across the world.
During our trainings and for all our visitors CSI highlights the critical importance of biodiversity, teaching people to value, protect, and conserve the amazing creatures that God has made.
